The 54th Jaén International Piano Contest is spreading through the province

On Wednesday and Thursday, six pianists participating at the contest will perform in Alcalá la Real, Baeza, Úbeda, Alcaudete, Huelma And Cazorla
Eleven pianists of the 54th International Jaén Piano Contest are performing in six municipalities of our province between Wednesday and Thursday. The concerts are taking place in Alcalá la Real, Baeza, Úbeda, Alcaudete, Huelma and Cazorla, offering a free entrance. "It is a great chance for the people of the whole province to enjoy these concerts, given by high skilled pianists", says the deputy for Culture and Sports, Antonia Olivares, who also wanted to stress the fact that these performances "are one of the features the participants value the most". 
The first performance is starting this afternoon, at 18:00 p.m., at the "Bartolomé Ramos Pareja Conservatory", in Baeza, with the performances of María Mazo, from Russia, and Christopher Devine, from the United Kingdom, playing works from Debussy and Schumann. At 19:00 p.m., at the Conservatory "Pep Ventura", in Alcalá la Real, the Korean pianists Kyung-Ah Kim and the Portuguese Saul Picado are interpreting pieces from Beethiven, Liszt and Granados. Later, at 20:00 p.m., and this time in Úbeda, the Ukranian Kostiantyn Tovstukha and the Spanish Antonio Ortíz Ramírez, are going to interprete works from Chopin, Debussy or Falla. 
Tomorrow, the concerts will be starting at 19:00 hours at the "Casa de la Cultura" in Alcaudete, as well as in the Music Conservatory "Sebastián Valero", in Huelma. Darret Zusko, from Canada, and Itsuki Takahashi, from Japan, will be the performers in Alcaudete, where they will interprete pieces from Debussy, Beethoven, Haydn and Falla. The people attending to the recitals given in Huelma will have the opprtunity to hear pieces from Beethoven, Liszt and Granados given by the young pianists Min Young Park, from Korea, and Saúl Picado, from Portugal. 
These performances will end up at the "Teatro de la Merced", in Cazorla, where the Chinese Lu Shen and Yue He will perform on Thursday, at 20:00 hours. The programme includes pieces from Albéniz, Beethoven and Ravel
Apart from these performances, we will be able to hear the rehearsal of the "Orchestra Ciudad de Granada" with the finalists, whose names are to be revealed this afternoon at the new theatre "Infanta Leonor". This orchestra performs under the guidance of Paul Mann, and it will be playing along the three finalists during the final, that will be celebrated next Friday, from 19:00 p.m. The tickets are still availabe at Discos Pioneros, with a cost of 10 euro.
